I am throughly enjoying my vacation in the Caribbean, where it is around 80F/30C while New York City is still covered in snow. I wanted to seize the moment and showcase a bit of the 1970s flare that has inspired countless of runways this season.
How to Put Together a 1970s Inspired Look:
1970s remains as one of the most iconic fashion decades ever with its mini skirts, bell-bottoms, and the androgynous hippie look dominating the streets of every cosmopolitan hub around the world.
Firstly, for a modern 1970s look, I would suggest staying close to earth's natural hues. Secondly, beside adding bellbottoms, mini-skirts or sporting the hippie look, the core of the '70s look consists of looser bottoms and a tighter top. Take a look around high street shops like H&M and Zara and also runway collections of Karen Walker, Diane von Fürstenberg, and Phillip Lim for style inspiration (or to shop).
Below, my look was inspired by the 1970s as well as my love for comfort and elegance. I am wearing a creamy brown jumpsuit with tiny specs of white polka dots and thick white framed sunnies. I added a huge hat to fit the beautiful white sand beaches of Jamaica. There you have it fashionistas, until next time, xoxo from the Caribbean paradise!
