Winter Skincare Beauty Tips

By Catherine Santino

Now that it’s getting colder out, it’s time to change our skin care routine. Winter months means constantly looking for ways to keep your skin moisturized as the weather gets harsher. Contrary to what you might think, you don’t need to break the bank to maintain healthy, glowing skin this coming season. Here are my beauty tips...

How to Take Care of Your Skin in the Winter

1) Drink water:

This is the most important skincare and beauty tip. Water is crucial to your skin’s overall health and keeps it looking hydrated and fresh. It’s easy to forget to drink water when it starts getting colder, but make sure to always carry a water bottle with you and drink throughout the day.

2) Vitamin E Cream:

If you have extremely dry skin like me, vitamin E cream is a great way to keep your skin from getting dry in the winter. It’s inexpensive, easy to find, and is extremely rich and nourishing for your skin. It is a bit heavy, though, so I recommend using it as a night cream. If you have oily or combination skin, I would recommend using something lighter, or only using it once a week.

3) Vaseline:

Another inexpensive, easy find. Use Vaseline on your lips, hands, face, elbows, etc throughout the winter to keep your skin soft and smooth.

4) Lip Balm:

Make sure to always keep a lip balm to moisturize your lips with throughout the day; harsh wind and cold can really dry them out in the winter time. I would highly recommend any Burt’s Bees or EOS beuty lip products. I recently bought an EOS lip balm in Honeydew and it smells amazing!

5) BB Cream:

Try mixing a BB cream in with your foundation in the winter. It really helps keep your makeup looking fresher throughout the day and prevents your foundation from flaking, especially if you have dry skin. Throw it in your bag to touch-up and rehydrate during the day. You can buy BB cream at the drugstore, and almost every makeup beauty brand has one. Here is our DIY fall/winter makeup tutorial in 8 easy steps!

There you have it, my skincare beauty tips for this season. Taking care of your skin during the coldest months of the year is very important, and with these few tips you can make sure you stay hydrated and healthy all year long.
