Oversized Coats

By Amra B.

For some time now, I have been obsessed with oversized coats. They are chic, elegant, and amazingly comfortable. Also, their ability to hide the rest of your outfit on those days you don’t feel like dressing up is simply GENIUS! I like oversized coats in almost any color, but my favorites for this season would have to be camel, black, blue and pastel pink. Below are some tips on how to wear your oversized coat:

  • Combine them with slim pants/jeans: A great way to balance out the “roominess” of your oversized coat is to add a pair of slim pants/jeans. Wearing a loose pant, dress, or a skirt with an oversized coat might make you look bulky.

  • Add heels: Balance out the “casual” feel of an oversized coat by adding a pair of killer heels. I love wearing strappy sandal, a peep-toe bootie, or a great pump with my oversized coat.

  • Accessorize: add a fun hat or a scarf to an oversized coat. Oversized coats tend to be basic, but can be made exceptionally fun and dressy with just the right touch of wonderful accessories.

  • Wear them open: I love the way an oversized coat falls when it is worn open. I also love wearing a thick sweater underneath and a scarf to keep warm when leaving the coat unbuttoned.

Everyday Casual-Chic Style

By Elma B.

Recently, I was asked by a friend how she can pick out everyday pieces that are comfortable yet chic. She has a closet full of clothes, yet she struggles how to put a look together that is effortless, i.e., not time consuming, and chic.

Me
My first piece of advice: get rid of clutter and take the minimalist chic approach to your wardrobe, here's what I mean. My second piece of advice: focus on the everyday. So, there are those dresses and heels for special occasions and then there is everyday. The question is how to look chic without spending hours on picking out your outfit?

I wanted to share with you in this post how you can look chic with everyday simple pieces. Style does not actually take a big bank account, simple and easy pieces will do the trick!

How to Get the Everyday Casual-Chic Look:

1. Black skinny jeans. Black skinny jeans are a must because they are simple, slimming and go with almost anything. If you are curvy, check out what jeans best flatter your figure here

2. Black jean shirt. Black jean shirt will go a long way, no matter what season. This is a timeless piece that you can wear everyday and combine it with many different bottoms; this piece exudes chicness, rock-n-roll, and laid-back-cool.

3. Studded booties. Studded booties will add that extra-chic in your outfit; the studs communicate edginess. If studded rocker booties, are much for you, go for black fringe booties. Both are comfortable, easy to slip on and chic.

4. Statement jewelry. Whether a necklace or layered bracelets or rings, try snake rings or owl rings, statement pieces will speak for themselves. They will take your outfit from boring to chic. Play around by picking jewelry that looks different, something that you usually see on everyone will not set your style from the crowd.

5. Bold lips. Whatever the season, when you want to give your look some spice, add bold lips. Choose between deep reds or maroons during the winter and fall; here are my top  8 make-up secrets for the fall and winter.

There you have it fashionistas, the top essential pieces for your chic-everyday wardrobe. What are some of your everyday favorite fashion pieces? Leave me a comment below, I love hearing from you! Until next time, signing-off from New York City, xoxo!!

Holiday Party Outfit Ideas

By Seema Kukadia

Holiday Party Best Looks

It’s that time of year again where we bring out the chunky knits and fluffy hats for the cold winter season. Whilst we are deciding how to wrap up warm for the day time, it’s also essential to put a thought towards how you are going to style yourself to look fabulous for all the holiday parties. Here are best holiday party outfit ideas.

One of my favourite party must haves are sequin dresses, as this is the time for your wardrobe to ignite boldness and be festive. Depending on the type of party you will be attending, you can always find a range of beautifully embroidered embellished sequin dresses to match every type of festive party. You can find these sparkly pieces almost anywhere on the high street in different shapes and sizes.

I particularly like sparkly dresses that drape well as it shows off those sparkles and creates a super elegant look. My favourite colours to look for are: red, green and electric blue when purchasing holiday festive attire. Not only because they cohere with the festive occasions, but it also is good to stand out and be different as most people tend to stick to the same conventional colours. Undeniably as a person who loves wearing black, I will admit you can never go wrong with a lovely black dress; as this would be suitable for all your parties.

For those of you who don’t like wearing fancy dresses, I would recommend purchasing a pair of silk (or anything shimmering) colourful trousers. With this you can always match an elegant sheer blouse and accessories it with statement jewelery. To top of these holiday party outfit ideas, always wear a chic fitted blazer and throw on a pair of fancy heels.

If you want to stand out and try something different experiment with different textures, I really like this DKNY ready to wear piece. Whilst glitter sequin dresses will never go old for the holiday season, adding a bit more dimension to your looks can help create an edgy look. I love how this dress has lace as well as feathers. Lace is such an elegant decorative fabric; by pairing it with feathers it creates a flowy and flirty feel to the dress.

Complete your party look with these simple holiday makeup ideas. I hope you all enjoyed this post and have an amazing holiday, feel free to share your favourite holiday party outfit ideas in the comment box below!

By Brittany Dobbins

Christmas Decor Ideas: DIY

With Christmas just around the corner, people are scrambling to get the best decor for their homes. Whether it may be going to the Chelsea Market and buying some cute little Christmas lights for your tree or apartment, because you want to make it really festive, it’s Christmas after all! Also if you want a place that’s on the cheaper side, try Macy’s. They have amazing prices and you can get a Kurt Adler Set of 24 Early Years Mini Ball Ornaments Cool, right? Ornaments can be used in any room and makes for a great statement. Here are some cool and fun Christmas decorating ideas.

1. Glass bowls for Christmas:

If you want to really get into the Christmas spirit, you can fill a glass bowl with a handful of ornaments, as for the colors? Stick to red and gold for that Christmas holiday look. It could be any shape or size you want. When you are done hang it from your banister or chandelier (whichever you prefer) to give it some sparkle. Teens love Christmas….well, so do the little ones as well, and I’m sure they would want some festive lights and cool ornaments in their rooms. So here’s an idea that I know they will love!

2. Personalized Christmas lights:

Grab a few of their favorite pictures or Christmas cards and put them onto some Christmas lights. Hang it on their wall. It could be in any area of the room. But I think also it just gives them some comfort in knowing that those special moments will always be there. They could be missing someone such as a family member; their dad might not come on Christmas because he is fighting in Iraq. And it helps bring back those precious memories, because you really want them to enjoy the holiday and create that Christmas atmosphere. If you want to surprise them or some of your friends, here are 5 handmade eco-friendly Christmas gift ideas.

3. Candy Glass Ornaments for Christmas:

Another fun idea for decorating your house would be to put some of your favorite candies in glass ornaments and hang them around your Christmas tree. Your kids will be eating them all morning and it’s very kid-friendly!

4. Pretty Plate Greetings:

If you want, decorate your kitchen with some fancy Christmas décor such as “pretty plate greetings” all you have to do is cut out letters from red paper or green (you want it to have that chic Christmas look) or for something a little less difficult, try stick on vinyl letters. Place the letters onto some white plates (white plates are simple and super elegant) and hang with plate hangers. Perfect for the Christmas holiday and will have your guests "ooohing" and awing at such a pretty display!

5. Candle Heaven:

I love the idea of having candles around your home and maybe some rosary as well to give it that homey feel. You want your home to be cozy and comfortable as possible.

These Christmas decorating ideas are perfect for the Christmas holiday and will make your home even cozier! There is nothing like some Christmas décor to get you in the Christmas spirit!

'Till next time......XOXO

Plaid Shirts

By Amra B.

I am a huge fan of plaid shirts; they are timeless, look great on both women and men, and are super easy to wear. In winter, I like to wear thicker plaid shirts and layer them over tanks, or wear them under blazers. Plaid shirts look amazing just tied around the waste or combined with anything denim. Below are some tips on how to wear plaid this season:

  • Go for the roomier style: plaid shirts are meant to be casual and look best when they are at least one size bigger. I love vintage men’s plaid shirts and find that they also look amazing on women.
Here I am wearing a men's vintage plaid shirt

  • Length matters: short plaid shirts will make you look bulkier due to the nature of the print. I find that plaid shirts that extend beyond the hips are the most flattering and easiest to combine with other pieces.

Long plaid shirt

  • Layer them over denim:  plaid and denim is a timeless look that never really goes out of style. I love wearing my plaid shirt with ripped jeans, denim skirt, or underneath a denim jacket.

Timeless look: plaid and denim

  • Combine them with (p)leather: add a little edginess to your look by combining a plaid shirt with pleather pants or a skirt. Add a pair of high heels for a perfect night-out-look.

  • Tie it around the waste: for a total street style (model-off-duty) look, tie your plaid shirt around your waste. This look is great when wearing tights to the gym or skinny jeans.
