Top 10 Fall Fashion Trends of 2020

By Kati Miller

This season is all about modernizing the sixties, bigger coats, sheer fabrics, and bold colors! Prepare to battle the winter in style with Club Fashionista’s top 10 trends of Fall 2020!

Top 10 Trends For Fall 2020:

10. Sporty

This is a rather comfortable season as designers across the globe included a few sporty assembles in their collections; Fendi and Miu Miu, among others, were obvious fans of this trend. Whether you pair fleece and mesh fabrics with red, blue or black, you are sure to have a winning look!

9. Crop Tops

Crop Tops are making their way down the list this season, we didn’t see as much of it as we would have liked on the runway; nevertheless, the crop top is still here in a very big way so don’t toss them just yet! Chanel is definitely still in love with the look as well as Dolce & Gabanna; celebrities and bloggers across the world are continuing to rave about the crop top and it is very much available in most retail stores such as Top Shop and Forever 21.

8. All Over Knits

Knits are very in, especially all over knits. I’m in love with this trend; it’s so comfortable yet so chic. Whether you’re vibing off the looks of Chanel or Marc Jacobs, stick to neutral tones and relatively fitted pieces to ensure a stylish outfit.

7. Clean Lines and Tailoring

Louis Vuitton, as well as myself, absolutely love the clean line trend. Whether you couple clean lines with jackets, suits, pants, or dresses, you are sure to have a stylish, fresh and expensive look.

6. Fairytale

The whimsical look was seen making its way down the runway this season in a very big way! Dolce & Gabbana, Alexander McQueen and Valentino have all been inspired by soft looks this season, so don’t be afraid to be dreamy and imaginative this fall with delicate fabrics, empire waists, and flowy dresses!

5. Color

It’s all about pastels, reds and splashes of gold and neon this season! Prada showed a really neat gold and red theme, Gucci stuck with some beautiful pastels, and Valentino went crazy for sixties themed neon! Try pairing gold and red for a bold statement and be sure not to get too wild with the neon as it should be used relatively sparingly, although Valentino went absolutely cray cray with sixties color, pairing his colored coats and dresses with black and white.

4. Sixties

The sixties are back! Trapeze dresses, miniskirts, wild patterns, and patent Mary-Janes were taking over the runway this season; even designers who aren’t fans of vintage prints were inspired by the feminine and fun shapes the sixties were known for. You could even try matching a sixties shape with neutrals and a splash of neon for a fun look!

3. FAUX-fur

Always a staple in fall/winter wardrobes, this year is no exception; fur is everywhere! This time around, color blocking, reds, and dramatic shapes are all the rage. Bright colors not your thing? Some designers have stuck to a major black and white theme this season; also, try optical monochrome prints for all of your cover-up needs to give yourself a unique take on traditional the black and white. Fashionistas, remember it is not fashionable to support animal torture and that is why we ALWAYS highly encourage you to opt out for faux-fur. Try ZARA for faux-fur. Here's why

2. Sheer and Lingerie Inspired Looks

This is THE look this season; designers loved pairing sheer textures and dark colors with lingerie. Dolce and Gabbana were big fans of this look, pairing lacy dresses and tops with high waist under garments. Fashion icon Rihanna has been obsessed with this look lately and Cara Delevingne rocked a gorgeous see through and lingerie Burberry dress at the GQ Men Of The Year Awards this September.

1. Bigger and Longer Coats

Coats, coats and more coats made every which way! Top fashion influencers such as Dolce and Gabbana, Gucci, Celine, Alexander McQueen, and Karl Lagerfeld are raving about all sorts of ways to cover yourself with style this season and have noticeably lengthened and thickened the looks. Everything from duvet inspired coats, rain coats, wraps, capes, ponchos, and even strait jackets flooded runways all over the world! Designers have been playing with textures, colors, prints and shapes with coats this season and perhaps the most popular fabric for coats this season would have to be shearling; believe it or not, this unconventional choice has definitely made a comeback.

And there you have it! The top 10 Fall fashion trends of 2020 are sure to inspire some change in your wardrobe this season, so grab some cocoon shaped coats, patent Mary Janes and some daring sheer styles and paint the town red…or gold!
